Chancellor and Commander Of Trond. Empty Chancellor and Commander Of Trond.

Post  BlackRavan Thu Aug 19, 2010 11:17 am

The DM's and myself have been discussing the idea of having a minor ruler of trond. This person will gain a title. They can make laws and regulations that directly affect that land and its people. Once Olander adds in guilds it is required to be a guildmaster or member (What do you think O?) to become someone with a special title. Once they have become a member the whole community can vote in who they think should be the Chancellor or Commander of trond.

    Chancellor...heads the Senate
    Commander...heads the Military

There are more things this person can do which i can explain later but for now all i want its your opinions and suggestions.

Chancellor and Commander Of Trond. Empty Titles

Post  holty Fri Aug 20, 2010 5:01 am

I dont think that you should have to be a guildmember to gain a tile , any player who distinguishes themselves should have that option avaliable.

Also in regards to being a councillor they may become bias towards members of their guilds, im sure not intentionally, but it could happen.

On becoming a Councillor or Commander they should give up Guild membership and become totally impartial towards all groups and make decisions for the towns and areas they get elected to.

Off course when they resign or whatever they can return to their guild.

Other then that A great Idea and a way to increase player input into the direction and development of the GAme and World as a whole.

Well its all strictly roleplay so watever happens happens. Its the players choice to either make the city better or be a terrible leader and lower its standards completely. Thanks for the input.

Trond and Vord are the only cities with a Senate style government and Trond is the only one to be able to have multi-racial seats taken by any of the allies. You can find Vord, Woad, Quessir and others on the Senate. The Military is directly responsible to the King/Queen NOT the Senate. So policies the Senate wants to take on also have to pass the muster of the military (usually not a problem since a Lord/Lady is also usually one of the Commanders...bribes and padded titles work well enough) So....what can happen in Trond is this...

For Trondian Lands policy and laws:

    King/Queen : Trondian Bloodline only
Supreme Chancellor : King/Queen granted Lord/Lady of the Senate (So..also holds 1 Senate Seat)
    Senate Seat 1 : Elected Lord/Lady
    Senate Seat 2 : Elected Lord/Lady
    Senate Seat 3 : Elected Lord/Lady
    Senate Seat 4 : Elected Lord/Lady
    Senate Seat 5 : Elected Lord/Lady

In case of Political Voting Tie...the King/Queen has the breaker.

    For Trondian Military policy:
Supreme Commander : King/Queen granted position
Commander : Supreme Commander granted position
Captain : Supreme Commander granted position

    Senate Policies:
The Senate would be directly written into the Web Page including all historical votes. There can only be ONE policy voted per cycle of the Moon (28 Days Game Time) so the Senate would have to decide what policy will be in session or maybe none. When a policy is voted in and updated to the Web Page and a Board in game it has become a Law. The Military cannot declare war without a Senate Vote but can defend Trondian lands in case of attack. Emergency sessions may be invoked....however...only ONE may be invoked in every 12 months game time (not reset at 1st day of year).

    Military Power:
The Supreme Commander (or Commander or Captain) can arrest the Supreme Chancellor for leading a session vote that would violate alliance treaties or 'The King's Favor'. This is considered treason against 'The King' and a beheading shall take place (which will give the former Supreme Chancellor a Death Deed). At this time a New Supreme Chancellor shall be granted and an election shall be held for the open Senate Seat. Only the military can command campaigns against the enemies.

So how would this work in LoA?
Well....the name of the server is Lords of Anvarath....for a good reason. Guilds are NOT really guilds in LoA....they are Lords/Ladies with a hierarchy under them. So...to become part of the Senate you would have to form up your own Lordship and claim a Keep. The Lordship rules will be very simple....you can be a single leader of your Lordship...meaning no followers. So....you would most likely be considered a Minor Lord with little power. The reason is....ANY Lordship can Challenge any other Lordship for the 'King's Favor'. The stronger the Lordship and more lands that are held the better 'Favor' the King will have and the more likely you will become/stay the Supreme Chancellor.

    LoA affects?
Well...want to move Vogrin out of his hold to someplace different? How about reclaim Khazad Trum or even Bluespire? How about making more farms available? How about making housing available with addresses? How about making a ban on killing Vale and/or Forest Wolves? How about helping the Naugrim take back their old fortress of Zarak? What players do through the Lordships will directly reflect how the server takes shape. Some things of course will be off limits of course....most of you already know what could be off limits.

Until lately there was not enough in the server to be able to add this feature....but now we can. I will not repaint landscapes to player wishes but it is very simple to move spawns and other things around as player policies and actions dictate.

    Whom is elligible?
Everyone....EXCEPT....Olander. All DMs and Players are elligible to have a Lordship. This means ALL of your characters are valid to have a Lordship. The system is Character Based....NOT...Account based. However, only ONE of your characters can have one of the titles above.

    Technical Note:
There is no good way to add a title to a name other than make a new character....but that causes all sorts of other problems with game systems (the Unique ID's are created for each Character and that is how the databases save the proper info....Banking...Crafting....Housing....Horses...etc.). So until we figure out some way...maybe Leto?...the titles will not be added to the in game names.
